A healthier future
For this residency, I co-created sculpture with the community of Harlow using random weaving, winding and binding processes. We created abstract shapes that invoke a sense of internal and external spaces. I took willow frames to St Albans primary school where the year 2’s helped me build up the weaving and stringing on the sculptures. The children really enjoyed the bright colours and textures and the open ended creative process engaged their imaginations. I used reclaimed fabrics to liberate basic resources and breathe new life into fibre. We really enjoyed manipulating and transforming the materials which displayed a sense of transformation and regeneration. I use the physicality of this process as a metaphor for healing.
